apparently change in climate is causing reduced yields of barley in Australia which will affect the price of beer! NOOO!! Let's hope it only affects Australia and not Germany.

Damn thats scary news. Fosters is the only ozzie beer I know off the top of my head (be it probably due to alcohol related brain damage) but I think they brew it everywhere, so hopefully if australia gets nuked, beer supplies shouldn't change.

Foster's? I won't miss it. As long as Dutch and Belgian beer is still being brewed I couldn't care less.

heh. Belgian beer would be negatively affected by a problem with lemon crops. Or maybe not so negatively, might make them a bit less citrusy. :p

I prefer dark beers, but some Belgian beers are cool. I've got to say that a lot of the Belgian beers I've tried are really a bit too citrus for me. But it's ok to a limited degree.

I'm sure I don't drink beer at all.. since my last time, I can't remember when it was. And all what stuns me about this topic is that some people need to have beer cost risen in order to start talking about climate change.

I normally can't remember all of every time I drink beer.

Hehehe, I think my case of Belgian beer just traumatized Satis...I included one or two kriek beers, hence the citrus thing I guess ¨

Most Belgian beers aren't 'sweet' at all...rather bitter and often heavy. Imho anyway, and I just spent a lot of time in another beer-minded country like the Czech Republic (they were rather adamant about Budvar NOT being the same as Budweiser, too).

But to cut you some Tex-mex-ish slack Satis: I had a Puerto Rican (well actually he's Dutch but grew up in PR) colleague and through him I've started to appreciate the whole Southern food thing. A lot of it is still way too spicy for me but on the whole, great stuff.

And as we do not have KFC in Belgium, I discovered the Qurrito. Oh, glorious Qurrito, plug my arteries with your heavenly combination of deep-fried chicken, BBQ sauce and thick molten cheese!

Oz if you came to visit us we'd get you all the Southern food you can handle. And while I don't cook - you can not be southern and not know how to make great southern food. Hell having cookouts just to chill and drink beer in our blazing hot summers will make a cook out of you quick. As for Belgian Beers being citrus flavored I tend to agree. And it was not just the kreik. Our beer /wine store has several beers that we randomly sample throughout the year and they tend to have that same feel. Although there ave certainly been some I really like. All in all I'd drink a beer from most nations if offered. Most countries have something that is good.

oh, I wasn't trying to be a bastard toward Belgian beer... I like a lot of it. The Kriek was pretty bad. :p Duvel is pretty heavy. But a lot of the other ones have a distinct citrus flavor in my opinion. Like Delirium Tremens and Delirium Nocturnum, for instance. I'd name off more but it's 9am on a Monday. :p
