I just found out my college teaches Russian. I may take it... I've always dug the language. Though I imagine it's really complicated.

Russan has cases just like Serbian, right? I guess it's not a new thing to you Sat, if you know German cases and declination things properly.
I don't think I'd ever go for learning Russian. We understand each other more-less anyway.

Well, I have no clue what that means. What happened to Vodka and Glasnost? :p
As for my German skillz, they're not all that. Though I'm familiar with the ideas. I still remember declination and conjugation from the Latin class I took 16 years ago.

Anyway, what about the Cyrillic alphabet Sat? Russians language uses only it, officially.
Now here is what I meant:
Ru (I may try):
- Приятель, хотеш ли некоторую водка?
Sr:
- Пријатељу, хоћеш ли нешто вотке?
Isn't similarity obvious?
Of course I've no clue if the Russian part is 100% correct, but I bet a Russian would understand I am offering him some Vodka even if I said it in pure Serbian.

hehe...a real russian would understand if you said it in Swahili. :p And yes, they do look very similar. And it's also a pretty intimidating thing to learn. Though I think Chinese would be more intimidating.
And to stay mildly on topic

No, the high school didn't offer Greek. The Latin was an elective and not required... I just thought Latin was cool so I took it. :p
heh...Chavs.

Shall we continue the language topic somewhere else?
I am so eager to do some split here.
And to learn Greek in school? No thanks dude, imho that sucks. Btw, I don't think there is really possible for one to get a Cyrillic alphabet properly, if he only had experience with Greek alphabet. First: there is not only one Cyrillic alphabet, second: most of these alphabets use >= 30 letters, while Greek alphabet has 24 letters.
But it IS definitely easier to understand/read it than if it were written in Chinese.

ok, post split.
Anyway, yea, Chinese and the pictogram languages are insanely intimidating. I learned a bit of Korean... it seems less like you memorize the "letters" (like you do in our western languages) and more than you memorize a bunch of the common ones and follow some structure rules to figure out what less common ones mean. But still...blah.

So much space for possible misunderstandings. A joke follows.
I guess that is why they developed so much fighting skills: to clear up a * big number of misunderstandings without much talking.
