Not anymore. Unfortunately AMD's having a lot of trouble keeping up with Intel these days.

I think Toshiba just announced they will be using AMDs processors because of the price benefit. I Think its because of the competition on the laptop market, and well most of the laptop users dont play games on it hence there is no need for all that power and of course the more powerful the CPU the more juice it need hence the battery lasts less amount of time. But that is only my opinion.

AMD recently announced a new line of low power CPUs. Less power = less heat, so a great thing for a laptop, assuming it's going to be using a desktop cpu.

Anyway, core2duo kicks AMD's ass as far as performance is concerned, but AMD's dropped their prices significantly, so if you're looking for value vs pure power, AMD is actually a better choice.

Hah, Intel!! Your box sucks!! Nah, jk of course...congrats with your machine. I'm jealous. I have my monsterbox here at home which could still theoretically work any game they throw at it (given a little slack on the settings); but the damn thing is still overheating SOMETHING when you try to play a game. And because I'll be away in 10 days I'm not even going to bother to find what it is, tbh. I'll just use it for internet and downloading things in the time I'm here.

And to top it all off, some fan is making a hell of a racket in the machine at this very moment. Again, can hardly be bothered to open the case and find out what it is. Too bad, it's a top machine, but enough is enough and holiday is holiday.
