yeah, most ppl who have cats have the parasite. That means me too.

Altho I would reckon I'm less suicidal than 10 years ago, so maybe it had a reverse effect on me. My wiring is fooked anyway.

So its easy. But if that's the case, how come half the world's pop is not suicidal, I doubt that many people are. What occurs with rats might not occur with humans, their is a genetic difference, for all we know it could be beneficial for humans.

Very few pathogens have the same effect between species. Diseases that kill one type of organism are often completely benign in others. This pathogens are not smart. They have evolved this control over rats through millenia of mutation. They develop just the right chemical that causes a reaction with just the right kind of receptor, in just the right part of the body. When medicines are created for diseases, all they really do is try to block one piece of the delicate system that allows them to work. Trying to infer the result in a species from the syptoms of another (even a closely related one) is folly.
