Bah, it's all good. I don't care if it's British or American or Spanish (ay ay, no es bueno!), if it makes me laugh I love it. On that note, black books is fun because it reminds me of so much at college. A depressed, chainsmoking, winedrinking, cynical egomaniacal book store owner, I've know quite a few of those. (well not quite book store owners yet, but they were getting to that)

P.S. I wouldn't go that far to differ British humour from American one because it's more subtle...a show like Bottom is hardly subtle, and still ROCKED.

Americans really didn't get Bill Hicks that much tho... He was more appreciated here.

He had a really strong underground following in the US, still does. Tool featured a piece of his skit on their anemia album song #69.

The word "underground" is there tho- over here he influenced a lot of British culture- Radiohead for example. In biographies people admit he had a greater following here. I'm probably seeing Dylan Moran in June tho :P

haha Bottom was amazing. and the Young Ones! hehe.

I always find it odd. The stereotype is that british like intellectual, possibly sarcastic humour the most, and americans like pratfalls. Yet we have some great pratfall comedy and America brings us some great intellectual stuff. Even in drama. Take House MD for example (love that show hehe), it's a drama, sure, but House himself is a hilariously sarcastic bastard; he'd probably put most English to shame... and yet its an American show.

House is Hugh Laurie tho- part of the great double act - Laurie and Fry. So technically its British humour set in American setting.

lol this is true. Watching American Office is interesting, for comparison reasons, but not funny.
