Prehaps the word "intelligent" is too losely defined.

If monkeys are intelligent, neaderthals are intelligent, humans are intelligent. Thats a big spread.

That's why I would say: monkeys are intelligent, but Neanderthalers are more intelligent. Homo Sapiens is more intelligent then the Neanderthaler, and nobody is as intelligent as I am.

Perhaps because the monkeys often are able to pull tricks on you.
To be honest tho, how do we know that Neanderthals are less intelligent than us. They were as efficient hunters and archaeologists find it very hard to differiate between sites occupied by Neanderthals and humans.

Did anyone read the story about that German guy? He happened to have the same name as a terrorist, so the CIA picked him up, kidnapped him, and threw him in a prison facility in Afghanistan...then after a while realized it's not the right guy they had. Yay for CIA.

So, uhm...no trial, nobody knew where he went, and if they didn't find out it was the wrong dude he might have been there for who knows how long. And I thought this stuff only happened to ppl in the US itself, with Afghanistan = parts of Cuba instead. Guess I better start looking out for suspicious English-speakers around here.
